A cool evening & a cell phone

On a cool evening along a side street in Sacramento, I saw a young man with a timid look sitting at curbside holding a cell phone against his ear. He doesn't speak or react at all while I can see him.

To me his look says "I am small and lonely and frightened." The cell phone somehow counters with "But I am not alone."

I hope he is actually listening to somebody. I have my doubts.

Bluetooth earphones were invented primarily so that the large percentage of the population who hear and interact with "The Voices" can fit in to "normal" society. The rest of society just uses them to be rude.
